Unlike previous games in the series, there's little in the way of real-time strategy so those expecting troop and resource management will be left disappointed. While you can customise your character's fighting style and level up their abilities, it's little more than window-dressing for a relentless trudge through dungeons, clearing one wave of enemies after another.
You can equip them with a selection of different weapons and armour left behind by vanquished opponents, but you'll still have to slog through whack-a-mole-style combat sequences that quickly become tiresome. Each is a specialist in their own field of combat, but what this really means is that some are slower but more powerful while others are swifter but more fragile.
At the start of the game you can choose to play one of six heroes.
